EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a mind-body based therapy that has been proven effective in treating many issues including:

  • Trauma and PTSD (including childhood abuse)
  • Depression
  • Anxiety (including panic attacks)
  • Eating Disorders
  • Phobias
  • Sleep Issues (including insomnia, nightmares, night terrors)
  • Performance Anxiety
  • Social Anxiety

EMDR is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy tool that can help reduce the effects of trauma including severe levels of anxiety and at an accelerated pace. Research has shown that by activating both hemispheres of the brain in unique ways, EMDR processing reduces the intensity of traumatic memories and associated negative thoughts and emotions. Many people also find that EMDR can help them transform traumatizing memories into new more pleasing and insightful thoughts and perspectives.

Clients may request EMDR as a stand alone treatment. I may also recommend that we use EMDR as an integrated part of ongoing treatment. If you have more questions about EMDR, please contact me or visit: www.emdr.com
