EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a mind-body based therapy that has been proven effective in treating many issues including:
- Trauma and PTSD (including childhood abuse)
- Anxiety (including panic attacks)
- Eating Disorders
- Sleep Issues (including insomnia, nightmares, night terrors)
- Performance Anxiety
- Social Anxiety
EMDR is a Cognitive Behavioral tool that has helped many people reduce the effects of trauma and anxiety at an accelerated pace. By activating both hemispheres of the brain in unique ways, EMDR processing allows traumaic memories and associated painful thoughts and feelings to resolve and reduce in emotional intensity. Many find that EMDR transforms thier painful thoughts and memories into new and more pleasing insights and associations that can significantly help them move forward in their lives in profound ways.
Clients may request EMDR as a stand alone treatment. I may also recommend that we use EMDR as an integrated part of ongoing treatment.
